THE DIRECTOR / PRODUCER
Paulina Tervo is a London-based Finnish filmmaker and co-founder of Write This Down Productions. She has worked for many years in TV and online and more recently as an independent filmmaker. She likes to tell stories about people and real life in places that often get bad press. Her films have been seen in international film festivals, television, on the web as well as used for advocacy and learning purposes. THE CINEMATOGRAPHER
Susi Arnott is a freelance camerawoman, editor and filmmaker with a long-standing interest in ethnography and observational cinema. Credits span Channel 4, Five and the BBC but she has also worked with numerous NGOs and development agencies. With a background in research biology, she enjoys collaboration with artists, scientists and other film-makers and has recently been making gallery pieces as well as documentaries. ADDITIONAL CAMERA
Meira Valtonen is a freelance camerawoman based in Finland with credits spanning across international documentaries and factual entertainment for YLE, Finnish Channel 4 and a range of independent production companies including Fremantle Media and Nordisk Film. She is passionate about human rights, animal rights and has spent a lot of time in developing countries. An MA graduate in cinematography from Universidad de Barcelona she also has an academic background in sociology of religion.
THE EDITOR
Catalin Brylla is a freelance editor, media lecturer and post-production consultant. He teaches post-production practice and film theory at the International Film School in Wales, the London Academy of Radio, Film and TV and Insight Education. His research includes narratology and cognitive film studies. He has edited a variety of documentaries (feature and short) and promos, which were selected and screened at international film festivals and broadcast on Swedish, Swiss and Brazilian TV. THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Hugh Purcell is Head of Studies at EsoDoc - an EU Media project to encourage documentary film makers to work on human rights and the environment. He is also an Executive Producer. He has spent 30 years working in television, ending his career at the BBC as Managing Editor of Documentaries and then becoming a Director of Cafe Productions. He has won several awards including a BAFTA and was until recently a consultant to One World Media.
THE COMPOSER
Alan Gibson is a freelance film composer, Double Bass player and multi instrumentalist based in London. He has composed music for a number of short films, the CH4 broadcast of the Turner Prize, and provided music and sound design for installations around Europe by the artist Jim Whiting. As a Double Bass player, he performs a range of music from Jazz to Classical and Folk and has recently started making solo performances incorporating improvisation and live sampling. He often plays a variety of instruments in the studio when working on a score.
THE SOUND MIXER
Bulent Delice is a professionally trained freelance audio engineer and part-time musician. His talents range from sound designing and audio restoration to post-production audio and scoring for film. His portfolio spans across visual adverts, jingles, radio and TV programmes, short films, games as well as live broadcast engineering. Bulent is also a talented musician and composer. His musical inspiration stems primarily from Indian, flamenco, arabesque, electronic, drum n bass and classical music. |
